We’re on a quest to visit all 50 states! Of course, our quest to visit all the US national parks trumps this one, but that quest will get us to South Carolina someday! So far, we’ve visited 45 states.
So … what counts as having visited a state? One of our friends says it’s about doing commerce, while another says it’s about doing something touristy. Yet another says it requires an overnight stay. Most agree that driving through* a state counts as having visited that state. (We draw the line at an airport layover – that doesn’t count!)

I’m loving your site! I recently started a travel blog with the goal of visiting all 50 states. I’m getting some good ideas from your blog…thanks!
We love your blog, too! 🙂
Oh, and I have decided (for myself) that driving through does not count unless we stopped and did something “touristy”. You can see my current list of states on my site:)
I think it would be impossible for us to drive through a state and NOT do something touristy. There’s always something! Thanks for stopping by our blog. We’ll check yours out, too!
